Galaxy Z Flip 3 & Flip 5G Have Different Rear Cameras
The brand-new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 brings several improvements over its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip 5G. The Korean house has improved both the durability and functionality of the clamshell foldable by adding a larger cover display, a more advanced Snapdragon 888 processor, and IPX8 h2o resistance. Where the new telephone didn't noticeably modify things is the camera department. Or dit it?
Both the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and the Z Flip 5G feature a dual rear camera setup consisting of a 12-megapixel master shooter with an f/ane.8 aperture and a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens with an f/2.2 aperture. The front-facing camera is a 10-megapixel sensor with an f/2.4 aperture on both phones. But it turns out those aren't the same sensors, at least not all of them.
Max Weinbach of Android Law has discovered that while the specs match, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and the Z Flip 5G are using different camera sensors on the dorsum. Last year's model is using Samsung'due south in-house ISOCELL sensors for both rear cameras. But this year, the company has switched to Sony sensors of matching specs. The front-facing camera is a Sony sensor in both models though.
You tin can see that for yourself in the fastened picture show below. As Max has noted, ignore the 48-megapixel resolution equally the camera is only a 12-megapixel sensor. This might have something to do with the upscaling and improving Samsung has done this year.
As you can see, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and the Z Flip 5G don't use the same camera sensors on the back. It's unclear why Samsung chose to brand these changes. More importantly, it's unclear how this affects the photo quality on the new Flip. The Milky way Z Flip iii cameras didn't print us much. However, a side-past-side comparison of the photographic camera samples from both devices is the only manner to tell for sure. We volition exist keeping an heart on if someone comes upwardly with such a comparison that shows any telling divergence.
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 still largely uses the same photographic camera sensors every bit the Fold ii
Max confirms that the Milky way Z Fold 3 and Z Fold 2 practice feature the aforementioned sensors, except for that 4-megapixel under-display camera (UDC) on the principal foldable display of the new model, of course. Last year's model doesn't feature the UDC tech. The selfie photographic camera on the foldable display on the Fold two was a 10-megapixel sensor. Otherwise, it'south the same three 12-megapixel cameras at the back and a ten-megapixel camera on the cover display on both phones.
